Beyond We

This is a legacy page dedicated to all the supporters of the Beyond We ambition.

We are no longer trading, but you can still navigate through our site to see the journey and we hope some shared learnings can be taken.
ANNOUNCEMENT: A new direction for Beyond We!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us these past three years!

Our ambitions for a new arts space based on the Bristol Harbour dedicated to developing, showcasing and sharing the work of black artists and creatives has now been halted!

Following a long research and development process we had split the programme into two parts; Arts programme and Venue purchase. We are so proud to be have been able to deliver on the development of our arts programme, but sadly we have been unable to realise the venue purchase.

Artist Network Retreat 2022

We held our first Artist Development programme back in November 2022 with an inspiring retreat for black creatives dedicated to collective rest, healing, rejuvenation and sharing arts practice.

Artists and creatives from an intergenerational background with multi disciplinary experiences from across the South West and Wales made up the cohort with guest speaker Marti Burgess sharing her experiences as a music venue owner.

Feasibility Study 2021-2022

Beyond We x UWE Student Architects

We spent six months working with a team of masters students - Interconnected Designs, to complete a feasibility study for the venue.

We consulted with artists in the regions, participated in design sprints and worked with the students and creatively imagined what, where and how the Beyond We venue would look, feel and function in the harbour.

Research and Development.

We recruited a collective of Black Artists and Creatives.

The collective consultancy group fed into the design and development of the proposed venue and arts programme during 2020-21.

Community Consultations are now live!

Help us launch the first black owned business on the Harbour!

Have your say!

Contribute your thoughts and ideas into the development of this new space. We particularly want to hear from future audiences of all backgrounds, and from artists and creatives of African and Caribbean heritage.

Consultation now closed.

We are creating the world we want to live in.
